Cynthia Marver Marmer Volunteer of the Year Award
The JDRF Cynthia Marver Marmer Volunteer of the Year Award was established in 2012 as tribute to one of the chapter’s most loyal and long-term volunteers. Each year, one volunteer from the northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area is selected by a committee to receive the award, which is given at the annual Cincinnatian of the Year Gala in May.

Dayton Volunteer of the Year Award
The JDRF Dayton Volunteer of the Year Award was established in 2013 to recognize an outstanding Southwest Ohio chapter volunteer from the Dayton/Lima area. Each year, one volunteer from that area is selected to receive the award, which is given at the annual Summer Soiree in June.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. When is the nomination deadline?
A. Nominations must be received by December 1.

Q. What are the selection criteria for this award?
A. To be considered for this award, nominees must have been involved with JDRF for a minimum of five years. The committee will carefully consider each nominee’s years of service, level of commitment, whether or not involvement has been continuous, and strength of their fundraising. Ideal nominees are those who are strong positive ambassadors for the organization.

Q. Who is not eligible to receive this award?
A. Previous award winners, JDRF staff, self-nominations, and members of the selection committee are not eligible for this award.

Q. Who is on the selection committee?
A. The committee is comprised of past recipients of the award, the JDRF chapter Executive Director and Board President, and one representative from each of the key JDRF fundraising programs: walk, ride and gala. The selection of the winner each year must be decided by a 2/3 majority vote.

Q. Can I submit more than one nomination?
A. We only accept one nomination per person. If multiple nominations are submitted by the same person, the committee will only accept the first one.

Q. If my nominee does not win, does that person receive notification and does the nomination roll over?
A. No, nominees who are not selected are not notified, but yes, nominees not selected for the award are rolled over for consideration for two additional nomination cycles.

Q. When will the winner be announced and are they required to attend the Cincinnatian of the Year Gala or Summer Soiree?
A. The winner will be notified toward the end of February and a public announcement will be made shortly thereafter. It is strongly encouraged that the winner attend the Gala or Soiree to accept their award.

Q. Can I nominate someone who does not reside in Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati or Dayton/Lima?
A. Yes, we accept nominations of anyone who resides in our 43-county chapter territory. Nominees who reside in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati geographic region will be considered for the Cynthia Marver Marmer Volunteer of the Year Award, and those living nearest to Dayton/Lima will be considered for the Dayton Volunteer of the Year Award.
