YLC

The Young Leadership Committee is a group of young professionals dedicated to raising funds and awareness for JDRF. The committee hosts various fundraising, networking, and social events that attract hundreds of young professionals between the ages of 21 and 40—with and without type 1 diabetes. Recognizing the value of young professionals, the YLC supports JDRF though events that are dynamic, energetic, and fun.

Members of the Young Leadership Committee are asked to attend meetings where they are given the opportunity to take part in the inception, planning, and success of several social functions throughout the year. Another piece to being on YLC is to increase the visibility of JDRF and the awareness of T1D by promoting us within your network and circle.

For more information about getting involved with the YLC in the Southwest Ohio Chapter please contact Ryan Klekar, YLC Committee Chair. Please also check back for news on events that are in the works!

Joining the YLC

You do not have to have T1D to join the YLC. In fact, our membership is roughly balanced between those with T1D and those without. While everyone has their own reason to support JDRF, the majority of members are there to support themselves, siblings, relatives, friends or someone who just wants to support a great cause.

Ryan is the proud father of Sam (age 6), a Type 1 Diabetic. Sam was diagnosed at 4 1/2 and is an inspiration to his family as to how well he has adjusted to his new lifestyle. Ryan and his wife, Sara, immediately got involved with JDRF after Sam’s diagnosis and Ryan now leads the Young Leadership Committee. He and Sara have 2 other children, Caroline (age 3) and Jack (age 2). On a professional basis, Ryan is a financial advisor and enjoys helping others achieve their goals and dreams. In his free time, you will find Ryan with family and friends, or possibly on the golf course.
